Baobab: A pro-black Foundation
Resourcing racial justice through Black & Global Majority communities
radically REDRESSING anti-BLACKNESS in the funding world
Freedom ∙ unity ∙ justice
A Foundation led By us. For us. With us. From us.
We’re more than just a funder.
Who?
We are a unique network of 400+ members, radical friends and solidarity partners who connect in words, thought and action with the intention to achieve lasting systems change.
How?
We are a member-led foundation, and we collectively shape our agenda and set our priorities. Our project teams, consultants and Committee Members are all representatives of our membership. We are organised as a dual structure Community Benefit Society (Bencom). Our dual structure provides us with a strong foundation to be recognised as charitable and conduct charitable work while also not limiting our ability to fight systemic racism and intersectional injustice.
Why?
Black African/Caribbean & Global Majority people of colour are acutely underfunded and marginalised from accessing resources in the UK. We believe that the people and communities harmed by racism and intersectional injustice are best placed to create change.
The best bit?
You get to be part of a nationwide network of people supporting, resourcing and working in racial and disability justice.
“We are accountable to the future!.”
“This is about legacy - being accountable to our descendants by creating a platform they can build on."
